Dear hippo,

Some general stuff up-front, previous letters are under the yuletide tags and I've stolen shamelessly from them, everything said then applies now. I'll be in #yuletide all the time as stars, so feel free to come stalk.

I am amazingly easy to please with fic, I read anything and everything from AU in space to five times and mpreg and everything in between and if you want to do that to any of the below, go for it! I read gen and slash and het (less so with femmeslash), so if you're happier writing any of the characters I've suggested in ships or just as friends then feel free. I love angst and fluff and PWPs and cliche-fic, dark humour and silly humour and banter, kill everyone off and let the zombies decide. Focus on plot or focus on character, whatever makes you happiest to write!

All of my fandoms are short and very easy to acquire so I hope that there's something in there that makes you happy to write.

I don't really have any major squicks, or fic no-nos, so go where the winds take you and don't worry about anything in that regard.

Lastly, OPTIONAL DETAILS ARE OPTIONAL. I'll love a story you loved writing way more than one you shoehorned into fitting my details.

1) The Long Earth - Pratchett/Baxter - any

Optional details: I honestly cannot narrow down my request for this as I need to READ ALL THE FIC. I'd love to see anything about Joshua's and Sally's continuing travels (romantic or entirely platonic), the history of Sister Agnes or more of Monica's story. Alternatively just go for pure worldbuilding and pick an Earth and tell me its story, write about the elves or the trolls and their POV of all these people stepping in and out and the trials and tribulations of setting up a new society from scratch. Or, how about Earth zero and the chaos of those left behind?

Extra bits- I think I want fic for this because I found the ending... unsatisfying in many ways. It built for so long and then poof, resolved and everyone lives happily ever after (ish). It also felt in parts that the book needed to be longer, it just skimmed over all these amazing worlds and then wham, on to the next, tantalizing and leaving me wanting more. I'd be overjoyed with fic that stayed on one world, but equally if you want to write snippets from a couple of places that pass through, then that would be just as fabulous. If you do want to include any other characters then feel free, however neither Lobsang or first person singular top my list of those I'm burning with desire to read more about, so would be happy if they stayed more background.

2) Deep Impact, any

I'd really love future fic (or really in between) for this as there's just so much to write about and the movie sort of glosses over the year between the speech and the impact. I'd love to see more on the reconstruction of the cities, how the asteroid changes (or doesn't) people's world view and attitudes. Sarah and Leo raising the baby and any other additions to their family or perhaps they don't even stay together. What life is like for those who went into the arks, or even go wild and write something in the world but with your own characters. Even though the movie had a 'happy' ending and I would be more than pleased to get something that carries on that optimism, if you want to go dark and twisty, feel free!

extra bits - This movie is one I go back to again and again and cheers me up despite the content. I adore the bits of science they got right (quiet in space!) enough to let me gloss over the bigger errors, and if you want to explore any of the geeky bits I will adore you forever. (Which I'll do whatever you write actually). I think the potential for worldbuilding here is huge and if you just want to play in the really messy sandpit of almost-destroyed-Earth then go ahead. I'd really like a fic that focuses more on Earth and the whatnext parts rather than something that's set during the film, and while I do love the crew of the Messiah, for the first time I'm my life I'm more interested in the ground based parts rather than the in space ones.

3) Political Animals- Elaine, Margaret, Susan

I picked this fandom because I love the strength of the women and how they still remain human and not caricatures. I love Elaine's competence and her conflicted feelings about Bud. I love Susan and how you see her falling and yet still doing what she needs to get what she wants, I love Margaret's unapologetic and uncompromising behaviour and how it fits with the love of her family. I haven't picked them for this request, but I also really like the way that Bud and Garcetti were written despite their flaws, so would also be happy if they were included as long as the women stay centre stage.

extra bits - I'm not sure I have that much more to say on this one (but it doesn't mean I like it any less than the others!), I just don't have any particular ideas to fling around. Saying that, given how unlikely this is to get another season (woe), I'd love a view on what happens next with the campaign and its family implications or the fallout of the crash and its political ones. Does Elaine win? What sort of president is she? Does Susan get her Pulitzer? How does the country cope without Garcetti?

4) Avengers Academy - Robert Baldwin

Robbie went back to being Speedball after being turned into the ridiculous, super dark Penance. I'd love a story about how he feels, trying to help all these young students with terrible powersets.

extra bits - What interests me about the suggestion I made was that Robbie still seems to struggle with some guilt and depression, and I wonder how that affects his interactions with his students. Does he see working with them as a kind of penance?(hah!) Does he worry about what might happen to them, or have any fear that he might become Penance again? As Penance, his powers were activated by pain -- how does he react to pain now? Is there any part of him that misses it, or is any way he hurts himself yet *more* penance? *g*
(This prompt also known as how many times can stars type penance in one paragraph :D)

Dear Yulegoat,

You are wonderful and have fabulous taste in fandoms.

Dear Yulegoat/hippo/entity of your chosing,

HI! I am so excited that one of my requests is going to get written I can barely contain the squee.

I am hideously easy to please, seriously, i embarrass myself sometimes, and am the very definition of eclectic tastes. I can't think of one genre or subgenre of fic that I don't love, from five things to pwp and apocafic to ballerina AUs, and care bears bdsm long and plotty happy genfic. I do very much enjoy some element of humour, even if it is, and in fact, especially if it's dark. I read gen and slash and het, so if you're happier writing any of the characters I've suggested as friends rather than in 'ships, then go that way.

A previous letter is here http://everywherestars.livejournal.com/11942.html if you require further insight into my twisted mind and I am always lurking in #yuletide if you want to come and play.

All of my ideas and suggestions below are just that, so write what you're happiest writing and I'm positive I'll love it. OPTIONAL DETAILS ARE OPTIONAL

Onwards!

Richard Marx - Hazard - Boy, Mary
Request - I'd love to read anything that explores anything mentioned in the song. His early childhood, what really happened to Mary, what happened to him after? Did he *really* leave her by the river? I can't decide whether I think he killed her or if he was totally innocent, so wherever you go with it is entirely up to you.

Further details - I really *really* want to know what happened to Mary. Every time I hear this song i have a sense of unfulfillment, did she run away? did he kill her? did someone else get to her? what happened to him after? He swore he left her by the river! How could she just leave like that, it was love! And yes, I know I'm a little overly invested in a melodramatic ballad from the early 90s, but Poor Mary and poor man, shunned since childhood, what did he ever do to deserve that? *sobs quietly*

Haven TV- Audrey, Nathan, Duke

I love this trio utterly, whether as friends or romantically. Their snark and spark and banter just makes my heart sing. Any explorations of the relationship between them would be wonderful, be it on a new case or hashing over the last scene of the last episode or trying to work out if Duke can make Nathan feel too. Bonus points for lighthearted bickering.

Further details - If ever there was an OT3 that stole my heart, this was it. I absolutely love the relationship between Duke and Nathan and Audrey. Other ideas from the ones in the request could be Audrey musing on these two men who she's let into her life or hijinks while Duke is trying to hide a crime from the others and failing utterly. Gen is perfectly great with this, but if you want to go with a relationship that's slightly more than pg-13, either new or established, that would be pretty awesome also.

Sports Night - Dan, Casey

Oh Dan and Casey, I just want to see more of you being you. At a ball game, when Casey finally gets Dan to see the Starland Vocal Band, sitting without pants on waiting for the show to start, writing a script or takeout after a show. Anything goes here, throw in an apocalypse or send them into space. Have them in an established relationship or write about their first kiss, or just how two men can be best friends for more than 20 years and not run out of things to talk about.

Further details - This is one of my fav fandoms in ever and having recently rewatched the entire series from beginning to end, my love has been renewed. With this fandom, snarky smart banter is king and if none of the above float your boat, then reading something that looks at what happened to the guys following quo vadimus would be awesome.

The Wire - Any
I had such a hard time trying to pick characters for this that I've gone with any in the end. And yes, I truly would be happy with any. If you feel like some small prompting, then these may not necessarily be the characters I *like* most, but McNulty, Stringer Bell, Bodie, Poot, Wallace, Dukie and Freamon are the ones that immediately pop to mind when I think about who I want to know more about. Go where the winds take you with this, so a turning point in McNulty's life where he decides that today he'll stop drinking, or a bit of an AU on how Stringer Bell managed to legitimise things and change the business, what Omar really wanted to do with his life, Bodie and Poot squabbling over something trivial, or maybe the school kids two grades on.

Further details - The Wire stole my heart and my breath away when I first watched it, and having the DVD boxset has just made me watch it over and over again. Any really does mean any here, and the suggestions above are what I conjured up in about 30 seconds. As an aside, I know this show used problematic language and I am perfectly happy with this in a fic as long as it’s not out of character, although feel free to exclude if it’s not something you’re comfortable with.

Dear Yulehippo,

Firstly, you're awesome and your hair looks fabulous today. I hope that I haven't presented you with anything too awful as a challenge. I may be editing this letter as and when I remember stuff, so come back and check if you need to. I promise not to change my mind, but just add extra stuff that might clarify things.

Things you might want to know about me, I am hideously easy to please and have immensely varied tastes. I love het and gen and slash. I adore cheesy tv (as you can tell from my requests) anything with ballerinas or gymnasts or figure skaters is automatically on my 'must watch' list. I love snark and dialogue and while my initial instinct was to say I prefer character driven stuff, I'm now not sure that's true and I love plotty stuff too. I really enjoy five times fics as well as crackfic and AUs. If you want to go for a crazy crossover, or set anything in space then feel free. I enjoy angst as much as I do happy fluff and I don't really have any squicks or fic turnoffs. The suggestions below are just that, so if you get nibbled by a bunny then please feel free to ignore any of my fevered ideas and run with it. Always remember, optional details are optional and I'd much rather have a story you loved writing than one you forced to fit with my requests!

raising the bar - I can't think of one character i don't love unreservedly with all their flaws and foibles and silly haircuts, except for Bobbi perhaps, but I am more than happy for you to change my mind. As I was forced to chose, I selected the four I would most like to see fic about, but please expand or reduce them as needed. It would be fabulous to see an ensemble piece, arguing a case in the bar or in the courts, and I'd love to see relationships taken further, romantically or otherwise. Whether it's Trudi and Charlie, Richard and Charlie, Ros and Richard, Farnsworth and Jerry, or Farnsworth and Charlie. Hell, get Marcus and Michelle drunk, or have Jerry and Marcus resolving their problems in a less than conventional manner. Pit them all against each other, have Nick making outrageous statements in the background or just sit them in a bar and let them chat. Besides, you know somewhere there's going to be the courthouse summer picnic, a no holds barred hockey league, or there was that one time some idiot suggested a road trip... Snark is a major bonus

note for fandom hoppers: Raising the Bar is a TV series on TNT about a group of law school classmates who have ended up working on opposing sides and in varying roles in the same courthouse. There have been 25 eps over two seasons and all should be available online somewhere.

In plain sight - I can't believe how little love this show has. I'd love to see something that examines Marshall in more detail, he fascinates me. Mary is also fab with her prickly anti socialness wrapped around a little girl who wants her daddy. I'm not a huge fan of brandi and jinx, but i'm willing to be convinced. I'd love anything that explores marshall and mary (platonic, romantic, ust) however they may be, whether on a case, post a case or just a moment from daily life. Throw in Dershowitz and Eleanor for the ultimate win. If you do go with Mary and Marshall as a pairing, and it's set in the current show timeline, please at least mention Raph as his relationship with Mary also bears exploring.

note for fandom hoppers - In Plain Sight is a tv show on USA following US Marshal Mary Shannon, who works in witness protection and along with the case-of-the-week, examines her (massively dysfunctional) personal life and relationships with family and friends. All the eps should be available online

Pandemic - this was a last minute nom which someone else suggested in an off the cuff way it would be mad to have fic for *glares at mjules* (mjules, if you've got me and are writing this. ILU!) and I can't stop thinking about it. The field is utterly wide open with this. If you want to write an anthropomorphic fic with Madagascar as utterly paranoid, the USA being all 'freedom of movement and screw this virus, we'll beat it anyway!' and Europe being cautiously optimistic until it gets a tiny sniffle and then freaks out then that would kick ass. Alternatively if you want to write something with actual people OCs in any setting such as a hospital or just on the ground as the world collapses around them then that would be just as awesome. Another option would be from the POV of the evil genius who's created the virus or even as someone playing the game and the iterations of diseases they go through before killing the world! I have a feeling this will be gen fic, but if you do introduce pairings at any point then I am perfectly fine with het or slash. All I ask is that Madagascar features. I'm sure if you're writing this you've played Pandemic many times and are as frustrated as I am that you can't kill the sodding country. *shakes fist at Madagascar* btw with this one especially - crackfic is more than welcome.

note for fandom hoppers: Pandemic is a very very simple flash game that can be found here - http://pandemic2game.com/ you can play it in a few minutes, but winning is very hard. When it comes down to it, this request is an excuse to write apocafic.

rpf #yuletide - *peeks out from behind the battlements* Yes, I was one of the crazies who requested this. Have at it with this one and I can't wait to see what you come up with. Make it as hideously cracky as you want, my only preference would be for a stronger emphasis on the hardcore (heh) group who've been in chat all year or are multi-year regulars. Given the inherent ridiculousness of this request, do whatever you will and I will adore it. If you want a plot idea or something to get you started, then everyone going on an epic journey sounds like a great idea, perhaps to rescue a grue from a unicorn. This really is meant to be madly tongue in cheek rather than egotistical, so silly is the order of the day. And just for reference, the list of people who officially opted in are here - http://community.livejournal.com/yuletide/736799.html

Lastly, #yuletide is an amazing place to come and play, we have hippos and zombies and everything, so whatever you're writing it's well worth a visit. I am pretty much a permanent fixture for your easy stalking needs if you want to come and find out more or need sneaky suggestions on how to acquire any of the source material.

This is the first time I've signed up, so I'm at the freaking out stage now after getting my recipient and wondering how on earth I'm going to write something good enough!

Anyway,

Dear Yuletide Santa,

General - Firstly, you clearly have stunning taste in fandoms and I'm sure I'm going to love anything written by someone as obviously awesome as you ;) I am a very easy person to please, I'm just as happy with plot as i am with porn, and anything in between. AUs are great but so is straight canon and while I like slash, gen and het and BFFs forever are just as wonderful. I like angsty, but would prefer if there's some element of humour in there, everyone wants to laugh at Christmas. If you're writing smut (and please please please don't feel you have to) then when it comes to squicks I'm remarkably hard to gross out, but rimming would probably be one of my few turnoffs.
Other than that, please feel free to ignore any and all of this, Anything at all will be brilliant enough. I cannot wait to get reading!

My Requests

Entourage (tv)

Ari Gold/Eric Murphy

While I'm also an absolute and utter sucker for Vince/Eric, (and if you want to throw that in there, well I'm not going to complain) I think my heart lies with Ari/Eric. The potential here for hot snarky bitchiness is just insane and while in general pretty fluff also floats my boat, we all know that's not what these two are all about.

BARE

Jason/Peter

You write this and you can have them singing the alphabet for all I care. AU/alternate ending/floating away together on a cloud with rainbows and puppies/mourning 'til the end of time. Jason/Peter are my OTP.

Chuck

Captain Awesome aka Devon/Chuck Bartowski

Chuck and Bryce may have had some epic bromance going on, and while breaking Ellie's heart my not be nice, having her walk in on Chuck and Awesome doing something, well awesome, would kind of kick ass
