Yuletide 2009

Dear Yulehippo,
Firstly, you're awesome and your hair looks fabulous today. I hope that I haven't presented you with anything too awful as a challenge. I may be editing this letter as and when I remember stuff, so come back and check if you need to. I promise not to change my mind, but just add extra stuff that might clarify things.
Things you might want to know about me, I am hideously easy to please and have immensely varied tastes. I love het and gen and slash. I adore cheesy tv (as you can tell from my requests) anything with ballerinas or gymnasts or figure skaters is automatically on my 'must watch' list. I love snark and dialogue and while my initial instinct was to say I prefer character driven stuff, I'm now not sure that's true and I love plotty stuff too. I really enjoy five times fics as well as crackfic and AUs. If you want to go for a crazy crossover, or set anything in space then feel free. I enjoy angst as much as I do happy fluff and I don't really have any squicks or fic turnoffs. The suggestions below are just that, so if you get nibbled by a bunny then please feel free to ignore any of my fevered ideas and run with it. Always remember, optional details are optional and I'd much rather have a story you loved writing than one you forced to fit with my requests!
raising the bar - I can't think of one character i don't love unreservedly with all their flaws and foibles and silly haircuts, except for Bobbi perhaps, but I am more than happy for you to change my mind. As I was forced to chose, I selected the four I would most like to see fic about, but please expand or reduce them as needed. It would be fabulous to see an ensemble piece, arguing a case in the bar or in the courts, and I'd love to see relationships taken further, romantically or otherwise. Whether it's Trudi and Charlie, Richard and Charlie, Ros and Richard, Farnsworth and Jerry, or Farnsworth and Charlie. Hell, get Marcus and Michelle drunk, or have Jerry and Marcus resolving their problems in a less than conventional manner. Pit them all against each other, have Nick making outrageous statements in the background or just sit them in a bar and let them chat. Besides, you know somewhere there's going to be the courthouse summer picnic, a no holds barred hockey league, or there was that one time some idiot suggested a road trip... Snark is a major bonus
note for fandom hoppers: Raising the Bar is a TV series on TNT about a group of law school classmates who have ended up working on opposing sides and in varying roles in the same courthouse. There have been 25 eps over two seasons and all should be available online somewhere.
In plain sight - I can't believe how little love this show has. I'd love to see something that examines Marshall in more detail, he fascinates me. Mary is also fab with her prickly anti socialness wrapped around a little girl who wants her daddy. I'm not a huge fan of brandi and jinx, but i'm willing to be convinced. I'd love anything that explores marshall and mary (platonic, romantic, ust) however they may be, whether on a case, post a case or just a moment from daily life. Throw in Dershowitz and Eleanor for the ultimate win. If you do go with Mary and Marshall as a pairing, and it's set in the current show timeline, please at least mention Raph as his relationship with Mary also bears exploring.
note for fandom hoppers - In Plain Sight is a tv show on USA following US Marshal Mary Shannon, who works in witness protection and along with the case-of-the-week, examines her (massively dysfunctional) personal life and relationships with family and friends. All the eps should be available online
Pandemic - this was a last minute nom which someone else suggested in an off the cuff way it would be mad to have fic for *glares at mjules* (mjules, if you've got me and are writing this. ILU!) and I can't stop thinking about it. The field is utterly wide open with this. If you want to write an anthropomorphic fic with Madagascar as utterly paranoid, the USA being all 'freedom of movement and screw this virus, we'll beat it anyway!' and Europe being cautiously optimistic until it gets a tiny sniffle and then freaks out then that would kick ass. Alternatively if you want to write something with actual people OCs in any setting such as a hospital or just on the ground as the world collapses around them then that would be just as awesome. Another option would be from the POV of the evil genius who's created the virus or even as someone playing the game and the iterations of diseases they go through before killing the world! I have a feeling this will be gen fic, but if you do introduce pairings at any point then I am perfectly fine with het or slash. All I ask is that Madagascar features. I'm sure if you're writing this you've played Pandemic many times and are as frustrated as I am that you can't kill the sodding country. *shakes fist at Madagascar* btw with this one especially - crackfic is more than welcome.
note for fandom hoppers: Pandemic is a very very simple flash game that can be found here - http://pandemic2game.com/ you can play it in a few minutes, but winning is very hard. When it comes down to it, this request is an excuse to write apocafic.
rpf #yuletide - *peeks out from behind the battlements* Yes, I was one of the crazies who requested this. Have at it with this one and I can't wait to see what you come up with. Make it as hideously cracky as you want, my only preference would be for a stronger emphasis on the hardcore (heh) group who've been in chat all year or are multi-year regulars. Given the inherent ridiculousness of this request, do whatever you will and I will adore it. If you want a plot idea or something to get you started, then everyone going on an epic journey sounds like a great idea, perhaps to rescue a grue from a unicorn. This really is meant to be madly tongue in cheek rather than egotistical, so silly is the order of the day. And just for reference, the list of people who officially opted in are here - http://community.livejournal.com/yuletide/736799.html
Lastly, #yuletide is an amazing place to come and play, we have hippos and zombies and everything, so whatever you're writing it's well worth a visit. I am pretty much a permanent fixture for your easy stalking needs if you want to come and find out more or need sneaky suggestions on how to acquire any of the source material.
